How to Edit or Update Email Settings on an Apple Device
Hi, this is Dan Haak here from Bloom360 and you and I together are just going to hang out for the next little while and I am going to show you how it is that you modify your email settings.
So, obviously the first step is going to be to open up your mail programme. And the window will arrive in just a second and when it does you can see we’ve got umm… a few different email accounts. The one that we are going to be playing with this is demo account here.
So, we go north just a little bit and we click on “Mail” and then we go to preferences and you can see here on the left hand side it actually gives you a list of the email accounts you’ve got. One more time we are going to be changing the demo account that we’ve got here. Now umm… while we’re here on this screen we might as well inspect the settings that are already here. This might help you solve a problem or two.
The description can be basically anything you want. The email address should be your email address and the full name should be your name. Um… importantly are these settings here: Incoming Mail Server username and password, these settings will have been supplied to you but it’s very important that you check the username and password.
The username is always the full email address so it’s not… in this case, the full email address is (email@example.com). The username is not just demo it’s (firstname.lastname@example.org) so it’s very important that you get that right and then after that the password which would hopefully be clear to you after what we’ve… after what we’ve sent to you.
Umm… and then further on importantly is our outgoing mail server and what we do there is we click in this list and we’re able to say “Edit SMTP Server List” and we’ve got a few servers here but looking here in the server name this is the one that we are interest in (mail.bloom360.com.au) and we’ll just click the “Advanced” tab just to see what other settings we’ve got.
Umm… now, the ports will have been sent to you so… but in this case we can just say “Use Default” but it’s better if you follow the instructions that you’ve been sent. You do want to use “Secure Sockets Layer” and the authentication is password and one more time the username is your full email address as sent to you and the password is the password as sent to you.
So umm… that’s all good. We’ll click “OK” to confirm it anyway and um.. just one more thing we just click over here into the “Advanced” screen and you can see here that there’s another umm… prompt for a server and the port number has been sent to you in the information that we’ve given you and you do want to use SSL that’s security and you do want to use that. And then again the authentication is your password. And once you’ve entered that into the other screens just setting here password, that should be enough. So, once you’ve checked all those settings or changed them to however they need to be changed you should be right to go and your email should work and if it doesn’t, let us know.
